Duran Duran is een Britse popband die deel uitmaakte van de stroming new romantic en was een van de meest populaire vertolkingen van die stroming. New romantic is een subgenre van de new wave uit de jaren tachtig. De bandnaam is ontleend aan het personage Dr. Durand Durand uit de cultfilm Barbarella uit 1968.

Vicki Sue Robinson
Vicki Sue Robinson (31 May 1954 – 27 April 2000) was an American theatre and film actress and singer born in Harlem, New York, USA, closely associated with the disco era of late 1970s pop music; she is most famous for her 1976 hit, Turn the Beat Around.
A former jingles singer, this talented lady appeared in Hair and Jesus Christ Superstar. She was a waitress, model and even recorded with Japanese artists. She later became the most associated singer with the disco era.
